New merch coming soon – cats & Christmas cards!

Posted on: Oct 12, 2018

With Christmas just around the corner I thought it was time I got my arse in gear and came up with some more merch!

I’ve been focused so much on client work that I’ve let the Etsy shop just tick away in the background and hadn’t felt inspired to come up with any new designs. But as always, necessity is the mother of invention, and with a couple of craft fairs in the calendar I got the sketchbook out and doodled some Christmas card ideas.

They should be arriving next week, and I can’t wait! I’ve also been playing around with an idea for a ‘what would a cat do?’ design that I’ve just finalised.

This was inspired by the vision board workshop I did a while back, and thinking about how great cats are at self-care. So when I’m struggling with anything I think ‘what would a cat do?’ and usually it’s either have a nap or yowl for attention, both of which are excellent options in my opinion.

When I was working on the designs I put some drafts up on social media and asked people to vote for their favourite. This was such a useful exercise and helped me finalise the design, so thanks to everyone that commented!

The only problem I have now is deciding what merch to order – I use a great company called Awesome Merchandise (they printed my notebooks, tote bags, temporary tattoos and pocket mirrors).

I’m thinking of either patches, stickers, mugs or t-shirts. It’s always tricky to decide these things as you have to consider the potential mark up, the quantities you’re going to need, where to store them etc. I love the idea of the cat design on t-shirts but then I’d have to order different sizes…so many decisions!
